Greetings from CEZCON 2016, 10th – 11th September, Kota
With a big bang, XVI th Annual Conference of Central Zone of IOA started at Auditorium, Medical College, Kota on 10th & 11th September 2016. On 1st day, Session started with cadaveric demonstration of Arthroplasty of Shoulder by Dr. Ramankant Agrawal, Fortis, Gurgaon. It was followed by Arthroscopy of Shoulder by Dr. Prateek Gupta, Sir Gangaram Hospital, Delhi, Dr. Atul Mishra, Fortis Hospital, Noida, Dr. Saurabh Mathur, Narayana Hospital, Jaipur. Discussion continued on Shoulder trauma by Dr. Anand Arya, President Indo-UK Ortho. Association, London and Dr. Ramankant Agrawal, Fortis, Gurgaon. Prestigious eponymous orations commenced after this. Dr. B. N. Sinha Oration was delivered by Dr. Sudhir Kumar, Past President Central Zone, Dr. B. Mukhopadhyaya Oration by Dr. K. K. Pruthi, Agra and Dr. S. C. Goel oration by Dr. Sanjiv Gaur, Prof. and Head, GMC, Bhopal.
Inaugural function was held at 12.00 pm to 1.00 pm. Chief Guest of the function was Shri Om Birla, Member of Parliament, Kota, Bundi. Invited guests were Dr. Sandeep Sharma, MLA Kota South, Shri Heeralal Nagar, MLA Sangod, Smt. Chandrakanta Meghwal, MLA Ramgangmandi. Dias was also shared by Dr. Girish Verma, Prncipal & Controller, Medical College, Kota. Dr. Mohan Mantri, Vice president IOA, Dr. A. K. Tiwari Prof & HOD and Dr. Rajesh Goel, Org. Secretary CEZCON 2016. Function was presided by Dr. S. K. Sharma, President Central Zone of IOA. Various guest lectures by Dr. Alok Agrawal, AIIMS Raipur on “Burnout syndrome in Orthopaedic Surgeons”, How to diagnose fracture union by Dr. Rajiv raj Chaudhary, Surat, Osteolytic lesions in distal part of tibia by Dr. Umesh Batra, Bhopal & Dr. C. P. Pal, Agra. Various Paediatric Ortho. Lectures by Eminent paediatric ortho surgeons – Dr. Taral Nagda, Mumbai, Dr. Kapil Gangwal, SDMH, Jaipur, Dr. Manoj Padman, Delhi were delivered.
Cultural evening with a dance troupe & stand up comedian and participation from delegates and guests made this function a memorable one & was followed by Gala Dinner.
On 11th September, Session started with Cadaveric demonstration of Pelvic acetabular fracture fixation by Dr. Ramesh Sen, Chandigarh followed by panel discussion by Dr. Rajesh Malhotra, AIIMS, delhi, Dr. Abhay Elhance, AIIMS Jodhpur & Dr. Ramesh Sen, PGI Chandigarh.
Another Symposium on Total Knee Arthroplasty was conducted & keynote address was delivered by Dr. Rajesh Malhotra – What 25 yrs of doing TKR has taught me. Dr. Neeraj Agrawal, Jaipur, Dr. Abhay Elhance, Jodhpur & Dr. Jay Sharma, Ujjain, Dr. Sunil Rajan, Indore delivered lectures on TKA. It was followed by Case based discussion by Dr. Anoop Jhurani, Fortis, Jaipur. Various lectures were also delivered by Dr. Sameer Gupta, Gwalior, Dr. M. S. Dhillon, PGI Chandigarh, Dr. R. C. Meena, Jaipur, Dr. Ajeet Saigal, Varanasi, Dr. S. C. Goel, Varanasi & Dr. S. K. Sharma, Ujjain. There were 58 PG Papers presented by PG students in a separate hall & judged Ist & IInd amongst all papers. 36 E posters were displayed on Laptop.
More than 260 delegates from all 6 states of Central zone participated in the conference. More than 30 pharma companies participated in the trade exhibition.
The 2 day conference ended with Valedictory function and promise to meet at Varanasi in CEZCON 2017. For the first time, Rajasthan Medical Council awarded 8 credit hours to the participating delegates.
Executive body meeting was held in a hall adjacent to conference auditorium. It was attended by various executive members- President, Secretary & past presidents and Captain V. S. Singh from patna and Dr. S. C. Goel, Varanasi- founding members of Central Zone. Dr. Amit Rastogi, BHU Varanasi was elected President elect and Dr. Bhuwan kumar singh, Saharsa was elected Secretary central zone unanimously. Various other members of State representatives were also elected.
